April 11. 2011 part deux

So tonight was knit night (Monday night-you'll begin to notice a pattern). My Pink Bunny Hat is finished, so I wore it, because what good is having a Pink Bunny Hat if you are not going to wear it. It went swimmingly with my black and silver western shirt and dark wash blue jeans. I also worked on the hat I am knitting. Yes. A hat. Those of you who know my knitting habits know hat I am quite loyal to one yarn, one pattern, one set of needles. This is Big Progress for me. It's for a Caps for Chemo project. And I like doing it. I think I need to make more. Of course, I am doing the easy part now. I nearly gave up on the first row, and when I get towards finishing that may be my undoing, but I am going to finish this thing by Friday. Also got a new project going on the loom and hung out with A, which is always a trip. Tonight's topic: TV Shows of the past and how they might be recreated. Use your imaginations. I dare you....

Ok, so my big win on Friday was spending $1.80 on clothing for Saturday night's Zombie Prom, and a few more dollars for fake dead flowers to make a corsage. Saturday was Artist's Market and Zombie Prom. Allow me to explain.

Remember Prom? Now, imagine if 95% of the people there were zombified, or looked like they'd been fighting zombies, or in close proximity to a fight, or just bitten by a zombie...you get the picture. There was a photo area, refreshments, lasers, loud music, zombies dancing crazy (that would be me), zombies dancing zombie-style (yes, apparently the undead do have rhythm), even Zombies doing the Cupid Shuffle (a staple at local ____ events), a prom king and queen. Trust me, you've never seen this much fake splatter at a high school dance, unless you've been on the set of an 80's slasher flick. My date was lovely. She had not been turned, and except for a ew bloody handprints, she remained unmaimed by the undead.

Sunday was mom day. And.....

April 8, 2011

It's Friday. But unlike the legends on the movie, I do have a job, and I do, did, have shit to do.

Work. Yeah.

So, Zombie Prom is tomorrow night. Hey, everyone deserves a date for the Prom, and the undead need love too. And I needed clothes, since my last Zombie Prom suit and shoes went out with the garbage a long time ago. Fake blood and real mud do not age well. Three thrift stores and $1.80 cents later, I was outfitted. And bonus, I found fake flowers that look like dead daisies so that my date can have a fabulous corsage. Well, two. I had enough for a moderate wrist corsage and a big-enough-to-cover-a-porn-star's-chest chest corsage. Clothes are stacked. I have time bewteen Artists Market and Prom to come home and change, so I don't risk mucking up anyone's bathroom but my own. I might have to make-up outside and air-dry before I am allowed indoors.

I did NOTHING creative this week. Nothing for market, nothing for myself. Time just sort of got away from me. Wasn't feeling it. I dunno. I'll work on stuff tomorrow at market.

OMGZOIKS Mom is coming went well, although I am realizing the magnitude of what I have gotten into. Moving a one-bedroom apartment cross country is different from moving a three bedroom house you have lived in for 36 years, and your five current cats.

CSI tonight was thought provoking. Some good character development, some discussion of dominant/submissive and power exchange relationships, although JUST ONCE I would like to see some of these relationships on prime time where no one is psychotic, sleazy, or dead. I think that's why I liked the show Swingtown so much. The characters were just normal people who had interests and relationship structures outside of the mainstream, but were otherwise just trying to pay the bills and manage their families.

Meant to be creative, again failed. Made Delightfully White Trash Dinner, though. And found Angry Birds for free. Must not let it suck away my life.

Knitting convention in one week. Excitement building! And bonus, I'll get to listen to the Talladega Race on the drive home! I'll take Martin or Junior or the win, please. Harvick and Shrub can suck it.

The Last Few Days

So on Friday, I got to be on Jaspher's favorite radio show, Night Calls on Playboy Radio. The subject matter involved donuts. That's all I'll say, that and take a bite out of life. Saturday I worked at my usual table at Artists Market (flyingmonkeyarts.org) and went to see this AMAZING dance show, Burn the Floor, 90 minutes of the most amazing ballroom you can imagine. See it if you can. Sunday was Croissant French Toast and Bacon Day, and OMFG My Mama is Really Moving Here Day. Monday, despite predictions to the contrary, the world did not end, although it rained like crazy. So...

Our Monday Night Knitting Group was small, like 4 instead of 14. And there is strength in numbers, as in strength enough to attract eavesdroppers but strength enough to keep them at bay. With 4 of us, the religious guy listening in came over to talk to us. Not bad...he asked us a question about what we were discussing (if there is a heaven and an entrance, would biblically sparkling good teenage behavior outweigh biblically-inappropriate grownup behavior). We tried to turn this hypothetical back to him, and poor kid was unable to answer outside of his biblical framework. This made me sad....faith is one thing, the inability or unwillingness to reason or freethink is another entirely.

Tuesday I got on Playboy Radio Night Calls again, this time asking host about her WonderCon experience. Those girls are awesome, and supergeeks to boot.

Tonight I helped Jaspher shop for Easter stuff for family, ate Chick-fil-a. and watched Sordid Lives, one of the best movies ever. Oh, and helped Jaspher make the ears for my pink bunny night cap to go with my pink bunny pajamas for the PJ party at next weekend's knitting convention. Yes. You heard that right. No, I am not on drugs. Yes, there will be pictures.
